Put the claim in one lane.

A claim can touch several lanes, but each piece of support keeps its own label.

ClinicalHuman trials, outcomes, population, duration, and adverse events.
RegulatoryApproval, enforcement, nomination, committee action, and legal status.
Seller claimWhat a seller says about its product, process, testing, or policies.
COA/reportWhat a report says about a submitted sample under named methods.
Independent testA documented sample measured by a lab outside the seller's control.
Business assumptionPrice, demand, margin, trust, audience response, and conversion.

Primary record

Regulator page, docket notice, trial registry, full paper, lab verification system, or original report.

Tier 2

Strong secondary

Use for context when the underlying primary record is identified and linked.

Tier 3

Orientation

Search snippets, summaries, social posts, and forum threads help locate records. They do not replace them.

Stop condition: if a load-bearing claim has only a seller page, screenshot, search snippet, or anonymous post, label it unverified.

Five sentences that keep proof honest.

  1. "This is a sponsor-reported result; the full peer-reviewed paper is a separate evidence state."
  2. "The lab record appears authentic, but the batch and sample provenance remain unknown."
  3. "This test measured purity; it did not measure sterility or endotoxin."
  4. "The advisory committee recommendation is nonbinding and is not FDA approval."
  5. "The result applies to the tested sample and documented context, not every unit or future batch."
Correction rule: keep the original claim, state what changed and why, link the new source, and add the revision date.
